BOOK
The Classical Now
Edited by Michael Squire, James Cahill & Ruth Allen
Pp. xvi + 192; London: Elephant Publishing; £30
The first phase of the Modern Classicisms project has resulted in a book – designed to accompany the major exhibition at King’s College London from 2 March to 28 April 2018.
The Classical Now features images of all of the objects featured in the exhibition, along with many others: it explores how classical motifs, styles and ideas pervade the modern and contemporary art-worlds, focusing on the period from the 1930s to the present. Complete with over 100 images, and printed in colour throughout, the book combines thematic essays with interviews by leading contemporary artists – Edward Allington, Léo Caillard, Damien Hirst, Alex Israel, Marc Quinn, Mary Reid Kelley and Rachel Whiteread.
The book can be ordered online through Elephant Publishing; it is also available to purchase online via Amazon.
